I think such a move away from traditionally beauty standards of females in favour of realistic is welcomed by another part of the fanbase but, IMO, one can hope it was symmetric when it comes to gender. Josephine has minor buckteeth and Sera is, well Sera. Cass has traditionally beautiful sharp features like in DA2 but unlike DA2, her face has scars and make-up toned down. For example, males like Dorian & Cullen are handsome in traditional sense while IB is roguish handsome but on the other hand females are drawn to have at least minor beauty flaws. It's just females though, as prince charming male LIs continue. Games have long portrayed females, especially love interests, as attractive women and it's possible this could be an over-correction. Anyhow, part of the fandom believes BW has been purposely toning down the beauty of female characters, by traditional standards. This will be highly controversial, especially due to the way you phrased the title. Because robots have no gender and no sexual characteristics, and from BioWare's perspective, this is the only way the world could become aligned with their codes of ethics, in which males and females are completely equal - by turning them into sexless robots. This might also be the reason why Anthem was all about robots. It's as if BioWare treat the polygons as real people and they were afraid to hurt their feelings. These flaps exist even on characters with pants, as if BioWare were extremely paranoid that you would be staring at their crotch and butt because some pants are a bit tight. The strangely positioned flaps at the front and back of the characters were also strange. The lapels are positioned in a way that breaks the contour of the breasts when you view them from the side. Take the Scout armor for Rogue, for example. If you look at how the outfits are designed in Dragon Age Inquisition, you will definitely find evidences that BioWare went out of their way to make characters NOT appealing aesthetically.
